Cisco is proud to partner with the NJ Pathways, in its innovative work, to help align education and industry partners for a more prepared workforce.  As many tech companies, like Cisco, move from degree-based hiring to skilled based hiring, the NJ Pathways and its work with community colleges help ensure that students are learning from robust industry credentialed curriculums which make them well qualified candidates to address the technology needs and jobs in the technology sector, as well as other industries, which are increasingly relying on technology to meet their business needs.

The NJ Pathways initiative provides information on how students and adults may enter an industry that most people don’t think about. The approach of exposing students at the high school level to the construction industry, then transitioning to the Community College level where they participate in experiential learning opportunities is incredibly impactful for both the student and the employer. The adult education programs are critical to fill positions with nontraditional candidates because so many currently in the field are getting ready to retire. This initiative provides the industry with multiple sources of new talent.

We recognize that success is more than just making the numbers; it’s about investing in your people and giving them tools they need to succeed… that’s why the NJ Workplace Literacy and Basic Skills Training Program works.

For a healthcare organization to run, its employees must have up-to-date knowledge on new equipment, technologies, practices, and regulations in various areas.  The NJ Workplace Literacy and Basic Skills Training Program allows us to offer a wide variety of courses to develop, upskill, and retain our staff – whether they are looking for ways to better serve their customers, or hoping to level up their careers.

We have proudly utilized the NJ Workplace Literacy and Basic Skill Training Program through Middlesex County College to develop the skills and capabilities of our employees, resulting in better organizational effectiveness. The MS Word and MS Excel programs have greatly helped enhance the computer skills of our employees and improved overall productivity. Further, their ESL programs have helped non-English speaking workers to better their English communication skills, which helps them to better understand their work instructions and carry out their job in a safe and productive manner. As these programs are conducted within our premises and/or online, we have had very minimal to no work disruption. I encourage other businesses in need to try the Basic Skills Program, and we look forward to our continued partnership with Middlesex County College and this program for years to come.
