Kayleigh Lavornia

Kayleigh Lavornia is the Chief of Staff for New Jersey State Senator Andrew Zwicker, in whose office she has worked since 2022. Her leadership in the Senator’s office involves coordinating initiatives that intersect with higher education and workforce development, ensuring that community college priorities are represented in state-level policy discussions. Ms. Lavornia was instrumental in developing and shepherding the New Jersey Council of County Colleges’ Opportunity Agenda bill package through the State Legislature to the Governor’s desk for signature, resulting in new laws to modernize the Council; codify the Pathways to Career Opportunities Initiative; create an industry valued credential list; expand access to social service supports for students; and foster stronger collaboration between community colleges and the public workforce system. Her commitment to public service and deep understanding of the legislative process embody the spirit of community colleges.
