Dr. Keith Kirkland
Dean of Student Affairs at Essex County College(ECC)
Dr. Keith Kirkland currently serves as the Dean of Student Affairs at Essex County College(ECC). He earned a B.S. degree in Biology from Seton Hall University and M.S in Management Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology and his doctorate degree in Educational Leadership at Rowan University in New Jersey.
Dr. Kirkland has been on staff at ECC since 1985 with increasing responsibility in each appointment – ranging from Director of an Upward Bound Program, serving as Director of Evening and Weekend Services, Assistant Dean of Continuing Education and Campus Services and Acting Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development where he oversaw programing such as professional development and training programs and grants administrator. As Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Kirkland is responsible for overseeing student support services which promotes student persistence and success, including counseling, career planning, athletics, childcare, student care services, Office of Student Care Services, and student extracurricular activities and programs. He has served as an adjunct instructor for the Business Division at Essex County College for the last ten years. He also has worked with community-based, community partners to provide student support services, and organizations promoting scholarship among inner city youth and has served on state-wide community college committees.
