Keith Kirkland, Ed.D.

Dr. Keith Kirkland has dedicated over 40 years of service to Essex County College, currently serving as the Dean of Student Affairs. A visionary leader, he has secured and managed major grants focused on mental health, hunger-free initiatives, and holistic student supports. Dr. Kirkland is the founder of the Office of Student Care Services, which provides essential basic-needs support to ensure students can thrive personally and academically. In addition, Dr. Kirkland has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to student access through his 27-year tenure as Golf Tournament Scholarship Chair. In this role, he has been instrumental in raising scholarship funds that have supported countless students in achieving their educational goals. His sustained leadership reflects both his dedication and his ability to mobilize resources in service of student success. Equally noteworthy, Dr. Kirkland’s has served as a trusted mentor to both students and colleagues, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and leadership development. His ability to inspire and cultivate future leaders reflects his deep commitment to community and shared purpose in higher education.
