Barbara Horl Elected to Serve on the Executive Committee

Barbara Horl, a trustee at Brookdale Community College Trustee, has been elected by Presidents and Trustees of the state’s community colleges to serve on the Executive Committee of the New Jersey Council of County Colleges. The Executive Committee, consisting of four community college trustees and three community college Presidents, guides the work of the Council.

Horl, a longtime Monmouth County resident, has served as a trustee at Brookdale Community College since 2019. Horl brings extensive experience in public service and education to this new role, having served in leadership roles with the New Jersey Department of State, the New Jersey Department of Education, and the New Jersey School Boards Association. She has also served on local boards of education and is deeply committed to expanding access to higher education for New Jersey students. Horl has been active in the work of the Council for many years and currently serves as the Trustee Chair of the Council’s State and Federal Policy Committee. She has worked to inform state leaders in Trenton and federal leaders in Washington, DC about the essential role of community colleges. Horl has also shared her insights on community college leadership and policy with college leaders from across the country at the national Association of Community College Trustees’ Leadership Congress.
