The NJ Pathways Initiative’s Center of Workforce Innovation for Patient Care was proud to take part in the NJ Hospital Association’s (NJHA) Workforce Summit, “Shaping the Future: Data-Driven Strategies for our Healthcare Workforce,” on November 12, at NJHA in Princeton. All the NJ Community Colleges that participate in this Center of Workforce Innovation were invited to join this important summit which brought together healthcare leaders and experts from across the state to address the challenges and opportunities within New Jersey’s healthcare workforce. Six NJ Community Colleges attended the Summit: Brookdale Community College, Mercer County Community College, Ocean County College, Raritan Valley Community College, Rowan College at Burlington County, and UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ.
The NJHA gathered comprehensive, New Jersey-specific data on 31 essential job titles within the healthcare sector, and this summit presented valuable insights from that research. Through engaging discussions, panelists delved into issues including the education pipeline, skills needed for current and future demands, the competitive landscape for talent across states, the growing significance of AI and cybersecurity, and the role of underrepresented populations in filling workforce gaps.
Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo of the N.J. Department of Labor and Workforce Development also offered a statewide perspective on these crucial issues. This event proved to be an excellent opportunity to connect with healthcare executives, HR leaders, and others committed to enhancing employment and opportunity within New Jersey.
